As the elections for Dhanbad Lok Sabha constituency are coming closer and various parties are announcing the names of their candidates, but interestingly the country's oldest political party, Congress, is still in search of a suitable candidate for this seat.
The search is on for a candidate who can compete with the candidate announced by BJP, Dhullu Mahato, the Baghmara MLA, having ample money and muscle power backed with BJP workers .
A senior Congress party official had reached Dhanbad and conducted an opinion poll in search of a candidate. Several party members put forward their claims, but the party could not form a consensus on any one name till Wednesday evening.
There are many names among which the main contenders are former MP Dadai Dubey, Bermo MLA's wife Anupama Singh, Jharia MLA Purnima Neeraj Singh, Ajay Dubey, Ashok Kumar Singh besides others. Ajay Dubey had contested once and had lost.But, now who would be the congress candidate here is yet under cover.
Meanwhile, while talking to journalists, former MP Dadai said that if the party declares him as its candidate, he has the capability to snatch this seat from the BJP that has represented this seat since the last three terms.
Meanwhile, an unregistered party Lal Bahadur Shastri Janhit PartyAnd Senior Citizens Welfare Trust announced the names of its party's candidates for fourteen seats of Jharkhand.
Party President Dr. KC Singhraj, while making an announcement on all 14 seats, said that he would contest from Dhanbad.
He told media persons that his main goal is to complete the incomplete works of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.
In yet another development Nakki Bharatiya Ekta Party has also declared Sunaina Kinnar as its candidate from Dhanbad. Party President Chaudhary Zarrar Ahmed Nakki made this announcement here.
