Two diamond merchants from Haryana cheated a property dealer of Bhopal for Rs 87 lakh. The accused cheated by giving a diamond of substandard quality. The fraudsters also showed fake certificates and test reports to the complainant to reassure him.
However, when the diamonds were tested in the local market, the forgery was revealed. A complaint was lodged with the Kohefiza Police in the matter. After investigating the complaint, the police have registered a case.
According to TI Brijendra Marskole, Robin Singh Thakur alias Ranu, a resident of Itwara, works as real estate agent. His office is in Nadara Complex near Kohefiza Police Station.
About a year ago, Sandeep Rawat, who lives in village Harpalpur, district Chhatarpur, came to Robin Singh's office with his two friends. Sandeep introduced the two persons who came with him as diamond merchant Giriraj Gupta and Bharat Bhushan Yadav resident of Haryana.
He described himself as a diamond merchant and his firm as M/s GM Diamond. They asked Robin Singh if he wanted to buy a diamond. On this Robin said that first you tell the diamond and its certificate of authenticity. The two persons accompanying Sandeep showed the diamond related certificate and diamond test report. The price of the diamond was said to be Rs 1 crore 25 lakh.
The diamond deal was fixed at 87 lakh rupees. After the deal was settled, the complainant transferred five and a half lakh rupees from his friend Amit Dalal's account to Giriraj Gupta's account and five and a half lakh rupees to his wife's account. Apart from this, in the presence of friend Amit Dalal, in the office of Nadra Complex, the diamond was received by paying an amount of Rs. 76 lakh to diamond merchant Giriraj Gupta and Bharat Bhushan Yadav.
Complainant Rabin Singh checked the test report of the diamond in the local market and checked the quality and purity of the diamond, then the quality and purity shown in the certificate was found to be of substandard level.
Robin filed a complaint at the Kohefiza police station in Bhopal.
