One nabbed for money lending

Misrod police arrested the accused who forcibly collected interest illegally by giving money and threatening using a blank signed cheque; police have recovered Rs 15. 53 lakh interest on the principal amount of Rs 2.33 lakh.

Accounting registers and cheques worth lakhs of rupees recovered from the accused.

Police said that on April 10 complainant Rajesh Jain reported that a total of Rs 2,33,000 was received from Suraj Jogi's account by the complainant from 23.09.2022 to 23.12.2023 for business purposes. The total amount of the said principal amount including interest and compound interest was deposited by the complainant in bank account HDFC. The bank branch has given money from Mandideep's account to Suraj Jogi's account.

After this, Suraj Jogi told the complainant that he still has to pay Rs 7 lakh more as interest. When he  said that he did not have the money, Suraj Jogi came to the house and threatened to beat the victim and his wife, abused mother and sister and intimidated him with the threat of fabricating in a fraud and if he did not give the money. They took 4 signed blank cheques of account from victim, then Suraj Jogi started pressurizing me to take Rs 7 lakh more by demanding interest of Rs 76,000 per month.

On the report of the complainant, an FIR was registered by the police station Misrod under section 384, 294,506, IPC and 3,4 Madhya Pradesh Debtors' Protection Act 1937. It was recorded and taken into consideration.
