District Electoral Officer Vijaya Jadhav has announced that during the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, media personnel have been categorized as 'essential category' by the Election Commission of India. Under this provision, media personnel holding 'Authority Letters' issued for election coverage will be able to cast their votes via postal ballot.
To avail of this facility, media personnel can obtain Form 12D from the Information and Public Relations Department (Information Building) in Bokaro or from the Assistant Electoral Officer's office in their respective areas. Additionally, Form 12D can be downloaded from the official website of the Chief Electoral Officer.
To submit the form, media personnel must deposit it along with the nodal officer's certificate within five days of the election notification at the office of the respective electoral officer.
On the designated polling day, media personnel can cast their votes through postal ballot from three days before the scheduled polling day until six days prior, as specified by the Election Commission. Details regarding the postal ballot center will be provided later.
This initiative aims to facilitate media personnel in exercising their voting rights and ensuring their vital contribution to the electoral process is upheld through decentralized voting methods.
