Should all State Governments reduce their taxes on fuel to provide relief?

Yes. International crude oil prices are responsible but the state governments are equally responsible for high petrol prices. They levy very high tax to fill their coffers. With the central government tax, at least we are confident that the money is being used on developmental projects.

Yes...Just to blame the central government and collect money through taxes is the main motive of all the political parties. The public money will again come back during election time for vote bank politics.

Bringing petrol and diesel under GST is the best way to reduce and unify the prices across India...

State Governments need not reduce their taxes on fuel as there is no case of lower taxes on polluting fuels. States can instead switch from present advalorem VAT to fixed levy of VAT on per litre basis as Centre is doing for excise duty on fuel . This will ensure that VAT doesnt get charged on crude price increases and we are not saddled with burden of Re 1.30 to Re.1.40 every time international price rises by Re.1. For ex. Delhi's per litre VAT @ 27% comes to some Rs. 17.00 per litre. Delhi may change from 27% advalorem VAT to VAT of Rs.17.5 per litre

They must reduce by 10-15 of the taxes to ease burden on common people. Even oil companies also needs to reduce their dealer commission part.

Let every state government instruct petrol bunks in their state to display base price, central tax, state government tax and agency commission.

YES, AT ONCE. NO ALTERNATIVE TO THIS. OTHERWISE ELECTORATE WILL TEACH THEM A LESSON. CENTER WILL WHATEVER IT CAN, BUT STATES TOO NEED TO LEND THEIR HAND. URGENTLY.
