Plan to run remote health centres on PPP mode

Wednesday, 28 August 2013 | PNS | DEHRADUN

After receiving tremendous response from the community health centre, Raipur which has been successfully running on PPP (Public Private Partnership) mode, State health department is planning to run remotely located primary health centre, Sahiya on PPP mode.

Well established sources revealed that the department will lay special focus on labour and road accident cases in order to save the lives of the victims. If everything would go as per the department plans then those villagers who are living in the fringe parts of Dehradun district would be among the major beneficiaries as they will get the advance and round the clock medical assistance at their place instead of visiting the Doon Group

of Hospitals.

The worst part is that accident cases are so often referred to the district hospital across the State resulting those who are admitted in district hospitals were neglected for some time besides, referring of patients from remotely situated health centres to district hospital jeopardises the lives of patients, till they reach to

district hospitals.

Well established sources revealed that that the flow of patients to Doon Group of Hospitals will reduce with the up-gradation of remotely situated CHCs and PHCs in the district. Besides, the traveling time will also curtail thus the lives of patients will not

be jeopardised.

Department sources told that equipped with latest medical equipments and medical officers and para-medical staff, the upgraded health centres will provide best medical care to the victims instead of referring them to district hospitals. It is also equally important to mention here is that the OPD (Out Patients Department) of the Doon Hospital hovers around 1,700-1,800 per day.  Sources confirmed that that those health centers having record of 50 percent Bed Occupancy Rate will be upgraded first and will be run on PPP mode.

It is noteworthy that those living in the remote areas of the State are among the worst affected villagers as health centres are scattered in the region. While speaking to The Pioneer, Dr Gurupal Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Dehradun said that running of health centres on PPP mode would be proved extremely beneficial for curtailing the load of patients on the district hospitals besides, seriously ill patients will get the best possible medical care at their region only.

He said that community health centres and primary health centres are already upgraded and equipped with latest medical equipments and only those cases are referred to Government hospitals which are critical. He told that various plans are in the pipeline for improving health and medical facilities especially in the remote parts of the district.
