Acoustic engineer and inventor Amar G Bose gave us the noise-cancelling headphones and introduced us to high quality audio systems. Team Viva lists the popular innovations
Amar G Bose, the visionary Indian-American engineer and inventor, famous for making high-quality Bose audio systems bearing his name and speakers for home users, auditoriums and automobile, focussed relentlessly on acoustic engineering innovation. The billionaire entrepreneur and founder and chairman of the privately held Bose Corporation, died at his home in Wayland, Massachusetts on Friday. We will always be thankful to the genius for the following:
>Small tabletop radios and noise-cancelling headphones popular among frequent fliers.
>Wave system radios boasting “life-like, room-filling sound,” cushioned QuietComfort headphones for reducing background noises such as home theater accessories and computer speakers.
>Bose changed the way people look at — and listen to — television with the debut of the VideoWave entertainment system, the only high-definition screen with a Bose home theater sound system built inside. It introduced groundbreaking technologies and an innovative level of control.
>The SoundDock digital music system became the sound standard for iPod speaker systems, allowing iPod owners to listen unrestrained by earbuds and share their music with others.
>Bose presented the Unify intelligent integration system. It provides home theater owners step-by-step onscreen instructions for connecting their audio/video sources, as well as one-button access to those options.
>In 1994, Bose introduced the Auditioner audio demonstrator. It allows architects and building managers to hear the exact acoustic performance of a building’s proposed sound system before the building is constructed.
>In 2010, Bose announced an entirely new product for the trucking industry: The Bose Ride system. It replaces conventional air-ride truck seats to provide over-the-road drivers an unprecedented level of protection from road-induced shocks and vibration.
