Palamu lad ranks third in UPSC mains

Rachit Raj became the poster boy of Palamu as what he did is nursed by many but he did it and none had any idea that the Palamu lad would be nation’s favourite. Raj has cracked the UPSC Civil Services mains examination in his maiden attempt and secured the All India third rank.  A Church Road resident Raj has one elder brother, said his uncle Chandu. Raj’s father Prabhu Narain Pandey is a branch manager at Vananchal Gramin Bank in Daltonganj. Raj’s parents and brother are in Delhi to share the moment of joy with the boy which shot to limelight as soon as the news broke out.

Dozens flocked the house of local lad to congratulate him for the rare feat but in the end had to communicate their wishes through uncle Chandu who is receiving the well wishers at his residence.Raj studied in Sacred Heart School at Chiyanki and cleared ICSE (Indian Certificate of School Examination) with 94 plus percent marks. Raj’s illustrious career includes plus-2 from Pilani with 93 plus percent marks, said uncle Chandu. He subsequently went to Vellore to pursue Bio-Tech from Vellore Institute of Technology.

Raj, who began his career in banking industry, studied at Khan Study Group at Delhi for the Civil Services Examination. He had opted for Geography and Public Administration in the UPSC (Mains) examination.
