On the 67the death anniversary of Gandhi, Congress workers organised different programmes in the State and pledged to follow Gandhi’s path. Candle march, blanket distribution among patients and other activities were performed during the day.

State Congress president Arun Yadav, leader of Opposition in State Assembly Satyadev Katare and State Assembly deputy speaker Rajendra Kumar Singh also participated in the programmes.

A two minutes’ silence was observed to remember freedom fighters in the PCC office.

Yadav, Katare and Singh paid floral tributes to Gandhi and others followed them. later, freedom fighters including Mod Mukhtaar Khan, Moolchand Batham, Habeeb Nazar, Chandrabhushan Guru, Narayani Bai, Badamilal Diwakar and lakshaman Keshwani were felicitated.

Yadav credited the nation’s development to the thoughts of Gandhi and also said that Congress will leave no stone unturned in making the dreams of Gandhi come true, as Congress is the only party that is working in this direction under the leadership of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.

While expressing his views, Katare said that Gandhi is an ideology which is the basis of our democracy and the best way to pay homage to the great soul is to imbibe his values and fulfill his dreams.

Rajendra Singh said that Gandhi and India can not be separated. His thoughts have been and will always be relevant for the citizens. He was against racial discrimination and made Congress, a party of common man.

He edified people from all walks of life, be it politics, business or other. Godse’s ideology will never be able to dominate Gandhian though, added Katare.
