The Dhenkanal police on Friday arrested and court-forwarded three security guards of the Bhushan Steel Plant at Meramundali for opening fire at three children near the plant on Thursday.The arrested persons were identified as Khirod Sahu, Dilip Dixit and Ranjit Mohanty. They were earlier detained by the police for questioning in the firing incident.
The security guards had opened fire at a group of youths from the nearby Talabahala village as they allegedly tried to force their way into the plant premises. After the firing, nearby villagers had locked the main gate of the plant demanding action against the culprits and compensation for the victims. Dhenkanal SDPO Rajkishore Dora said the situation is under control and the police have kept the area under surveillance to prevent recurrence of any untoward incident there. The investigation was on in the case.
