The Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) management on Tuesday cancelled its orders in which services of five persons were terminated. Notably, these five persons Archana Saxena, Aruna Saxena, Kavita Dehalwar, Anshu Gupta and Abhay Sharma, most of them are relatives of Congress leader Sanjeev Saxena, were appointed on different posts in the MANIT in the year 2005.
It was alleged that their appointments were illegal and several complaints were filed in this regard with the MANIT and the Union HRD Ministry time and again. When late Arjun Singh was Union Minister for HRD, he had initiated enquiry into the appointments and later, CBI probe was also ordered in the whole episode. Reportedly the CBI had given clean chit to these five persons in the enquiry.
A meeting of the Board of Governors of the Institute held on March 5 and with the signature of director of the MANIT Appu Kuttan KK, an order was issued in which it was stated that the appointment of the five persons made 10 years ago were cancelled. later, there were holidays for three days and on Monday, sources said these five persons approached the director with other facts and the director on Tuesday issued an order in which it was mentioned that earlier issued order of March 5 was cancelled. later, addressing the media, Kuttan said that in the meeting of BoGs, the CBI report was not kept for discussion, following which the confusion was created. Now everything is clear and the previously issued order has been cancelled, he added.
