The Odisha Private Engineering College Association (OPECA) on Tuesday again pleaded for Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) for the 2015-16 academic session.
In a meeting held at the Employment Bhawan chaired by E&T &ET Minister Sanjay Dasburma, the private engineering college body opposed the JEE Main conducted by CBSE. BPUT VC, Registrar and E&T &ET Department Secretary attended the meeting.
last year, the State Government did away with the OJEE and participated in the JEE (Main) for admission to all Government and private engineering colleges for BTech engineering and architecture courses.
last year the OPECA had sought intervention of the High Court contending “that many students who are otherwise eligible to seek admission into technical courses, could not do so, either since their examination results had not been declared prior to the last date for submission of application for JEE (Main) or some students had appeared in the supplementary exam, thereafter and consequently could not make the necessary applications."
OPECA president Prafulla Samal also raised concern over the unauthorised technical institutions admitting students.
