Four miscreants involved in attacking a journalist on March 22, 2015 at Jeevan Motors near Arera Hills were nabbed by Crime Branch Bhopal; the fifth accused was nabbed earlier and is serving jail.
Senior Superintendent of Police Raman Singh Sikarwar while speaking with the media person on Tuesday claimed that these are the genuine assailants. He claimed that the case was completely related to mistaken identity. They considered that Verma was the same person, with whom they had a dispute some time back.
Sikarwar stated that Shivendra had a fight in MP Nagar after which he informed his accomplices and on their arrival they spent few hours searching for those with whom he had a fight and later, considering Manoj was the same person, chased him on bikes and attacked him.
The nabbed accuseds were identified as Shivendra alias Shibbu Bundela (26), Shailendra Singh (25), Durgesh Gupta (25), Sandeep Tripathi (27) while the fifth accused is under judicial custody.
Shivendra was booked for two cases of bullying and assaults, Durgesh was booked for 12 cases of assault and illegal possession of arms, Sandeep was booked for fight, bullying and Sunny Thakur was booked for 16 cases of assault and illegal possession of arms.
In the evening on March 22, 2015, Shivendra had a fight and later informed his four accomplices to reach MP Nagar. The five later searched and attacked the accused and his father and attacked the victim with iron rods and wooden sticks and escaped the spot.
During the investigation police found that the four were at MP Nagar and acting swiftly on the tip off the four were nabbed. A case was registered under sections 307 and 34 of the IPC in the incident.
