Maurya critisises SP's move of including 17 OBC's in SC list

Friday, 23 December 2016 | PNS | Lucknow

Terming the Samajwadi Party government’s decision to include 17 OBC castes into SC category a political stunt, state BJP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya said that the decision has been taken keeping an eye on the coming elections.

“The decision fails merit as the High Court had spiked a similar decision taken by the Mulayam Singh Yadav government. If Akhilesh Yadav is serous in extending help to the OBCs then he should tell people as how his cabinet decision is different from the one taken by his father Mulayam Singh,” Maurya said in a statement issued on Thursday.

Maurya said, “Including the 17 OBCs into SC category was an election promise of Samajwadi Party. At the fag end of his term, the Chief Minister took the decision knowing well that this will not see the light of the day.”

“During the last election campaign, Akhilesh had also promised to take action against Mayawati for her involvement in corruption. What happened to that promise. Has the government taken action against Mayawati,” he asked.

The BJP leader said that the Akhilesh Yadav government has failed to deliver. “The law and order situation is bad and development has come to a naught. To divert attention of the people, Akhilesh has taken such a populist decision to win OBC votes. This drama will not work this time and the SP will be decimated in the coming polls,” he said.
