Panki by poll slated for May 16 here in Palamu found Palamu police range DIG Saket Kumar Singh sitting with Bihar Magadh police range DIG Saurav Kumar in Gaya on Wednesday May 4.
Sources said DIG police Palamu was accompanied by Palamu and Chatra SP Patel Mayur K ll and Anuj Kumar Jha respectively. The Magadh range DIG police was assisted by his Gaya SP and others.
Confirming this DIG police Saket said ' On Wednesday May 4 we were in Gaya holding discussion with Magadh range DIg Kumar in connection with the May 16 by poll in Palamu's Panki assembly constituency'.
On being asked as to why there was such a op level discussion Saket said ‘This assembly constituency opens up with Magadh’s Doomarya which has its own notoriety for extremism.’ Manatu’s Chak opens up with Doomarya. Similarly Panki’s Kekargarh is close to Chatra in Jharkhand. DIG old the Pioneer ‘We shared our inputs with each other. The thrust is to check the sneaking in of extremists from Bihar in this assembly constituency here for this by poll’.
Sources said panchayat election is going on in Bihar and hence activity of extremists has to be scanned.
Saket said Bihar police and Jharkhand police will man the border for this by poll. The border is very porous and hence extreme vigil is needed which the wo States’ police force would do.
This by poll is sans any former naxalite in the poll fray which is a big relief to the police in Palamu.
