Full support to B'desh in dealing with influx of Rohingyas: India

India on Friday said it will extend full support to Bangladesh in dealing with the present humanitarian crisis that has been caused due to the influx of Rohingya refugees.

The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said that India firmly believes that the civilians should not be targeted. “Killing of innocent civilians and their displacement is a tragic situation. We want to support  and compensation to be provided to the families of the displaced Rohingyas who are fleeing violence in Mynamar,” Raveesh said.

Responding to a question on Bangladesh government's indicatiosn that it want India to play a bigger role in resolving the Rohingya crisis and pursuing Myanmar to take back its people, Raveesh said India and Bangladesh are in touch on the issue and the Indian Government is actively supporting Dhaka in dealing with the present Rs humanitarian crisis'.

“We are focusing on humanitarian assistance. Three sorties of relief material has also been sent to Bangladesh and more will be sent,” Raveesh said.
