Heat wave conditions will continue in MP

The heat wave conditions will continue in most parts of Madhya Pradesh for at least two to three days due to the hot air coming from Rajasthan, said the Met Department.

City recorded day temperature at 40.8 degree Celsius which was 5 degree Celsius and night temperature at 21.7 degree Celsius.

On Thursday city recorded highest day temperature of the season at 40.8 degree Celsius which was 5 degree Celsius above the normal temperature.

The difference in the day and night temperatures has increased in the past 5-6 days making the weather conditions extreme.

"The hot and dry air coming from Rajasthan has resulted in heat wave conditions in Madhya Pradesh. This situation may continue to prevail for at least another two or three days. Dust storms are also likely in some areas," said India Meteorological Department (IMD) Bhopal Centre's meteorologist GD Mishra.

"Severe heat wave" was likely in several districts including Gwalior, Datia, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Ratlam, Khandwa, Khargone and Damoh for the next two or three days, Dr Mishra said. At least six districts saw maximum temperatures of around 43 degrees Celsius yesterday.

"Yesterday, the highest temperature in the state was recorded at around 43 degrees Celsius at several places including Khargone, Khajuraho, Ratlam, Naugaon, Damoh and Hoshangabad, while the lowest temperature of 17 degrees Celsius was recorded in Rewa and Betul districts," Mishra said.

Heat wave conditions will continue in Heat wave conditions would be witnessed in most of the areas of Rewa, Shahdol, Chambal, Gwalior, Ujjain and Indore divisions.  

Hoshangabad division and Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat, Panna, Sagar, Bhopal and Rajgarh would witness heat wave conditions in the next 24 hours. Except Bhopal division other divisions witnessed heat wave conditions in the past 24 hours.

Indore recorded day temperature at 40.4 degree Celsius and night temperature at 22.5 degree Celsius. Gwalior recorded day temperature at 41.2 degree Celsius and night temperature was recorded at 21.4 degree Celsius. Jabalpur recorded day temperature at 41.2 degree Celsius and night temperature at 23.1 degree Celsius.

Among the nearby areas Hoshangabad recorded day temperature at 43 degree Celsius.
