It was an enchanting experience for the classical music lovers as they listened to the calm and composed classical ragas on western clarinet by Ustad AS Noushad at Naad Swar.
A classical music evening Naad Swar was held at Dushyant Kumar Memorial Museum of Manuscript on Thursday. An internationally acclaimed clarinet player Ustad Abdul Salam Noushad from Indore gave a splendid performance before the Bhopalites.
Naad Swar is organized by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Bhopal chapter under its Horizon series.
Ustad Abdul Salam Noushad is a known name among the clarinet players of the country. Started learning at the age of 5 years from his grandfather Ustad Nathe Khan who was respected artist of clarinet in his time in Royal Family of Malwa state. On Thursday evening, he began his performance with Raga Abhogi in vilambit ek taal. Then he performed Raga Ada jo Taal in dhrut teen taal leaving the audience totally enthralled. After this, he played the Raga Joh in teen taal and wrapped up his performance with RRaga Bhairavi.
To play a western instrument clarinet by vocal style is his forte. He is one of those artists who have brought this improvisation in classical instrumental music.
Clarinet basically a western instrument and In India it is known only for marriage band, Ustad AS Noushad did changes in Key’s and played the Indian classical music from Gayaki which was not easy and this way he proved that all raga’s and style can be played on western instrument Clarinet.Talking with The Pioneer, he said, “Since childhood I had interest in playing clarinet and to make it different from other clarinet players I thought for this improvisation, which also took me to heights.” He further emphasized on youngsters being inclined towards the clarinet playing.
“I have realized in all these years that the youngsters are more into clarinet playing .”
