At some places, residents might have been facing problems due to power cut in Dehradun and other parts of the State. The department officials are working on war-footing to complete such works in their jurisdictional limit.

Various localities of the provisions State capital faced power cuts dragging for hours, further aggravating residents’ miseries. Frequent power outages are being reported from places like Jogiwala, Vani Vihar, Kewal Vihar, Sahastradhara, Raipur and Dalanwala for the past few days.

Dalanwala residents experienced power cut on Wednesday while the same problem was experienced along Sahastradhara Road area and some other localities on Wednesday and Thursday.

Power cut started after 10.30 am and continued till evening on Thursday.

Mamta, a resident of a locality along Sahastradhara Road, said,“ I am unable to complete my domestic works due to frequent power cut situation. Power cut continued on Thursday too. We wonder what the power supply situation must be in rural areas considering the such power ordeals being faced in Dehradun day after day.”

UPCl spokesman and chief engineer SK Singh claimed that the corporation has sufficient power to distribute among the residents during Diwali in particular and throughout the year in the State. Power cut was reported in some places and he attributed the localised power cuts to snags in the transmission system at the local level.

The electricity consumers have been directed to make their alternative arrangements for power. They have also been requested to cooperate with the UPCl which is working to complete some essential works for ensuring smooth power supply to them during Diwali festival and throughout the day and night, Singh added.
