CTB will hand over 27 of its properties on management contract

Chhattisgarh Tourism Board (CTB) will be handing over management contract to private players for its 27 properties across the State, officials informed.

The CTB in March this year had decided to offer management contract for its 32 properties in the State.

The Board last year had also decided to offer operation and maintenance of its motels, hotels and resorts on management contract basis to private players.

The management contract for CTB’s 33 properties/units (motels/hotels/resorts etc.) was mentioned for a period of 10 years which it had stated could be extended further for 10 years by mutual consent,.

The Chhattisgarh Government had been making strenuous efforts to improve the quality of infrastructure and provide basic amenities in the tourism circuits, officials informed.

Notably, Chhattisgarh exchanged MoUs worth Rs 12 crores for development of world-class tourist facilities during ‘Incredible India Tourism Investors’ Summit (IITIS)-2016’ organised by the Ministry of Tourism in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industry and the Tourism Finance Corporation of India from September 21 to 23, 2016 in New Delhi to promote investments in Tourism sector in India.

Several key announcements were made at the valedictory session of the Summit.

The States like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh exchanged 86 MoUs during the session and many more are in the pipeline, aggregating close to Rs 15,000 crores, officials informed.

The Central Government has put up the anticipated timeline for completion of the Tribal Tourism Circuit in Chhattisgarh to be 2019-20.

The Tribal Tourism Circuit will provide an opportunity to the tourists to witness and experience tribal culture and traditions in State, officials informed.

The key components for development under the project are ‘Ethnic Tourist Village’ and ‘Ethnic Tourist Development’, Destination Development and Wayside amenities. The project would be developed by CTB.

Union Ministry of Tourism has already received the concept proposals for development of Ramayana Circuit from Chhattisgarh Government, officials informed.

The Ramayana circuit comprises-Dandakaranya Circuit (Sheorinarayan-Rajim- Sihawa Saptrishi Ashram) and Eco-Circuit: (Hasdeo Bango- Khuntaghat-Kodar-Tandula- Madamsilli-Dudhawa- Kosarteda-Dalpat Sagar) from  Chhattisgarh Government.

Moreover, based on the proposal submitted by the State Government of Chhattisgarh, the Ministry has sanctioned the project ‘Development of Tribal Tourism Circuit in Jashpur- Kunkuri-Mainpat- Ambikapur-Maheshpur- Ratanpur-Kurdar- Sarodadadar-Gangrel- Kondagaon- Nathyanawagaon- Jagdalpur-Chitrakoot- Tirthgarh in Chhattisgarh’ under Swadesh Darshan Scheme in 2015-16 with the central financial assistance of Rs 99.94 crore.

The projects are sanctioned subject to availability of funds, submission of suitable detailed project reports, adherence to scheme guidelines and utilisation of funds released earlier, they informed.
