District Magistrate Dehradun S A Murugeshan ordered action against the doctors who are prescribing branded medicines which are not available 'Jan Aushadi Kendra' after he heard out such complaints raised by members of the district branch of the Red Cross Society during a meeting in Dehradun on Friday.
During the meeting, some members of the society alleged that some doctors are circulating messages like medicines from ‘Jan Aushadi Kendra’ not being effective in curing diseases. The members also shared their personal experiences gathered from Doon Hospital and Prem Nagar Hospital. Hearing them out, DM instructed the officials concerned to take strict action against such doctors.
DM further instructed the members of the society to include the college students in it. He stressed on those from the remote and rural areas to be involved in the activities of the society.
He also urged them to organise various employment-related training programmes for women in coordination with the Women Child Development Programme.
The Red Cross members apprised the DM of several public awareness programs- disaster management training, blood donation camps, hygiene campaigns and health consultation-being launched by the society.
