Israel to teach Holocaust time defence art to kids

The Embassy of Israel is organising a self-defence training session in Delhi-based Government run schools. Incidentally, girls student will learn self - defence techniques of "Krav Maga". It is important to mention here that this technique will be taught to over 100 school children. The training session will begin at 11.30 am on Friday in Kitchner road, Malcha Marg, Chanakyapuri.

Israeli instructors of Krav Maga have come to India. Refael Kashani, the instructor with 26 years of vast experience will head the training program in India. Refael and his team will teach self-defence techniques to the schoolchildren, aged between 14 and 18, at Sarvodaya Co Education Senior Secondary School.

Importantly, the form of self defense was developed in Europe to protect the Jewish community during the Holocaust. After the State of Israel was formed, the Jewish community migrated here and brought with them the art of Krav Maga.

Soon the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) began training its staff in it and it became mandatory. Later, it was also taught to Israeli civilians. Krav Maga is popular worldwide among women, girls and children. By learning its techniques, people of all age groups can learn to keep themselves safe in the real world.
