MoU signed for redevelopment of Dehradun railway station

The authorities have taken a step towards redevelopment of the Dehradun railway station. As a result of this, in a couple of years, world-class infrastructure will be developed at the Dehradun railway station which will also be beautified. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the railway board and the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) to this effect here in the presence of Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Tuesday.

According to the plan for redevelopment of the railway station in Dehradun, traffic control will be improved to lessen rush of people.

Further, construction of multi level parking, modernisation of police post and taxi stand, construction of multiplex, four star hotel, restaurant, kids zone and construction of check in point, establishment of food court, latest ticket and reservation counter with facilities, rest room, dormitory facilities and ATMs will also be provided here.

A Janata Ahar facility to provide low cost meals for the poor will also be developed.

Official sources informed that the planned developments include provision of a railway guest house, apartments for railway officials and employees, parking and construction of LIG and MIG flats.

The Dehradun railway station will be linked with Harrawala railway station, ISBT and Dehradun airport. Additionally, the Harrawala railway station will be developed as a satellite station and a Transport Nagar will also be developed near Harrawala.  The pre-feasibility report on the re-development of Dehradun railway station has been submitted to the Railway Board.

The project will cost Rs  12242.50 lakh and will be completed in two and half years.

The State Transport Minister Yashpal Arya, MDDA vice-chairman Ashish Kumar Srivastav, Railway Land Development Authority vice chairman Rakesh Goyal and other officials concerned were also among those present during signing of the MoU.
