PM to unveil Sir Chhotu Ram's statue on Oct 9 in Rohtak

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil the 63-foot-tall statue of peasant leader late Sir Chhotu Ram at his native village Garhi Sampla in Rohtak on October 9.

On the same day, the Prime Minister will also address a public rally at Rohtak, which is considered as a stronghold of former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

 “The State Government has received a confirmation from the Prime Minister’s office and he will unveil the statue of peasant leader late Sir Chhotu Ram on October 9,” said Haryana Minister of State for Cooperation, Manish Grover, who is also an MLA from Rohtak constituency.

Grover, while talking to the mediapersons said that the statue was installed earlier and we were waiting to get time from Prime Minister to unveil it. The Chief Minister and all Cabinet Ministers will be present on the occasion. The Prime Minister will also address the public on the occasion, he said.

“The State Government has geared up for the event at Rohtak,” he added.

Union Minister Birender Singh, who is grandson of Chhotu Ram had last year announced that the statue will be unveiled by Prime Minister.

Recently, the Hisar INLD MP Dushyant Chautala had given an ultimatum to the Haryana Government to unveil the statue by November 1. Dushyant alongwith his party workers had held protest outside Chhotu Ram museum in Sampla and had alleged that the Union Minister Birender Singh and the State Government has failed to get time from the Prime Minister in the past nine months to unveil the statue.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet Minister Manish Grover said that the Prime Minister will also join the celebrations of four-year completion of the present Government in Haryana in an event to be held in Karnal on November 1.

Recently, the Chief Minister Manohar Lal had called on the Prime Minister in this regard at his residence in New Delhi.

Manohar Lal had discussed with the Prime Minister in detail regarding the various new projects of which the foundation stones would be laid and also those which would be inaugurated to mark the four-year completion of the present Haryana Government on November 1.

The Prime Minister will laid foundation stones and inaugurate 12 projects including Kundli-Manesar-Palwal expressway.
