Pvt schools fail to obey DoE order on divyang quota

Monday, 12 November 2018 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

Despite repeated reminders to the private and private unaided schools to fill up the seats by the Directorate of Education (DoE), the private schools haven't been able to admit the students for the admission under the category reserved for the children with disabilities. Around 1,270 seats reserved for the admission of the children with disabilities are still lying vacant.

Also, unhappy with the attitude of the private school branches, the DoE in a recent meeting decided to call for fresh online applications against the remaining vacant seats at entry level classes (Nursery,KG and Class-I) for the session 2018-19.

Yogesh Pratap, Deputy Director of education (Private School Branch) directed to run a message on the departmental website that online application is open for admission in private schools till 15th November under children with disabilities category.  Tentative date for the computersied draw of lots is scheduled on 20th November.

“Directorate of Education issued notification issued notification twice in July and August regarding the reservation of three percent seats under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) in private schools of Delhi for admission of children with disabilities but despite inviting application against the available seats twice, around 1270 seats are still lying vacant, against which no online application is available.

Thus the department has decided to call fresh online applications against again from the aspirants of children with disabilities as per the Rights of Persons with disabilities Act, 2016 against these reserved available seats present,” said Yogesh Pratap, deputy director of education while issuing the latest order to all the concerned managers and Head of Departments of Private schools.

There are more than 100 schools situated across the city where admission will be done against the remaining seats of the children with disabilities.
