Rajnath: NDA's vijay rath to pass through UP expressway

Sunday, 12 August 2018 | Biswajeet Banerjee/Prakash Arya | Meerut

Claiming that the National Democratic Alliance’s ‘Vijay Rath’ in 2019 general elections will pass through the expressway of Uttar Pradesh, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh attacked Congress president Rahul Gandhi, saying how can a leader who does not know how to conduct himself in Lok Sabha, lead India.

“What happened in the just-concluded monsoon session of Parliament, is an eye opener. The Congress leader started a ‘chipko abhiyan’ knowing very well that his party will not come to power. If the president of the (Congress) party cannot maintain the dignity of Parliament, how can he think of leading the country?” Singh asked after inaugurating a two-day State Working Committee meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Meerut on Saturday.

Singh said the opposition parties along with Congress brought a no-confidence motion against the government saying that the NDA did not have majority in the Lok Sabha. “They did it with a purpose as they could not digest our success. The way Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made India proud globally, everyone is now talking about him and India. Even the world now knows that the BJP is not a family-based political enterprise,” Singh said, taking a jibe at Congress and other parties like Samajwadi Party, in which a dynasty system prevails.

Singh said the BJP does politics not to grab power but to build a nation which is strong and where people of all caste and creed live in peace and harmony.

“What we achieved in the last four years and half years was possible only because of UP. In the last election, UP’s share in NDA’s victory was the biggest. We need to replicate the same because UP will again be the expressway for NDA’s victory in 2019, the Union Home Minister said and added: “The onus is now on you people. Last time you invigorated party workers and this time too you need to galvanise them. This time we need to win at least 350 seats.”

Singh spoke at length about the achievements of the NDA government at the Centre and in UP.

“Naxalism has been restricted to just 8-9 districts of the country now, while earlier this menace was spread over 135 districts. Similarly, we have given a free hand to the Indian Army to deal with terrorists in Kashmir and every day the Army is liquidating 5-6 ultras. In case of National Register of Citizens (NRC), people should know who are Indians and who are outsiders. We implemented what the Supreme Court asked us to do,” he said,

“In UP, the Yogi Adityanath government has brought crime under control, and this is a big achievement. The government has built houses for the poor and implemented Swachhata campaign in full steam. The Ujjwala scheme is being implemented in the state and its results are visible everywhere,” Singh said.

Earlier, Singh lighted the ceremonial lamp along with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP state president Mahendra Nath Pandey and seven former presidents of the party.
