Ranchi DC, SDO hold meeting to give facelift to Pahari Temple

Saturday, 24 November 2018 | PRAGYA PAllAVI | Ranchi

Reeling under the constant risk of landslides since past few years now, an internal meeting pertaining to the status of the revamp work of Ranchi’s prime devotional site – Pahari Temple was conducted here on Friday.

Agendas ranging from consulting leading construction company in India, Larsen and Toubro (L&T) for restoring the age-old site to utilizing the donated money in accomplishing several major and minor activities like reimbursement of all pending bills, beefing up the security layers at the holy place including a few other issues were elaborately discussed.

Ranchi DC, Rai Mahimapat Ray who also happens to be the ex-officio Chairperson of Pahari Temple, Sadar SDO Garima Singh including the members of Pahari Mandir Vikash Samiti during the meeting also devised upon a few other measures for equitable development and expansion of the spot.

Ideas like setting up garbage incinerator machine for generating organic manure from the waste materials engendered from inside the temple, installation of six more Close-Circuit Cameras for better surveillance, repair work of staircases that have developed fissures and is at a high risk of getting damaged was proposed during the meet.

“The minor civil construction work will be taken up now in the first phase. Lanes, staircases leading to the main shrine will be restored. Construction of demolished ‘Dharamshala’ is also on the cards. Soon, deployment of trained guards will be done at the Pahari Temple from security point of view,” said Sadar SDO, Garima Singh.

Meanwhile, the SDO clarified that the decision of shifting the flag-post constructed a few years ago there by Urmila Constructions in consultation with a public sector undertaking, MECON Limited will be considered soon. “The flag-post matter will be taken up in the later phases, once the minor revamp work gets over. Nothing substantial regarding this was considered in this meeting,” added Singh.

Notably, even after so many years, Pahari Temple is in a state of uncertainty posing a severe danger for the devotees as well as for those residing around the temple. Every year with the onset of monsoon season, the danger for the devotees doubles, looking at reports about the fragile hillock.

Also, due to the apathy of the maintenance committee members, regular soil erosion has emerged as one of the major problems here. The prime devotional site of the Capital City has been undergoing through restoration work for quite some time now, putting immense pressure on rocks while adding on more to the risk.

Up till now, no apt solution to the problem of mudslide especially during heavy rainfall has been chalked out by the civil construction company handling the project including the district administration team.

“Issues like clearing payment dues including consulting L&T for preparing a fresh detailed project report (DPR) of the site was taken up. Also, Ranchi DC has asked the members to take up small initiatives to ensure better crowd management during any festivity,” said Pahari Mandir Vikas Samiti, Officer (PR), Mukesh Agarwal.
