Chhattisgarh excise department banned the sale and serving liquor on polling days and the final 48 hours before completion of counting as per a directive of the election commission.
Chhattisgarh will witness polling in three phases for 11 Lok Sabha seats. On April 11 polling will be held for lone Bastar seat. Rajnandgaon, Mahasamund and Kanker LS seats will go to poll on April 18 in the second phase. For remaining seven seats of Raipur, Bilaspur, Raigarh, Korba, Janjgir-Champa, Durg and Surguja elections will be held in the third phase on April 23.
The counting is scheduled on May 23.
The prohibition order states that the ban will be effective on the day of repolling, if any.
Serving liquor in shops, hotel, restaurant, clubs, and other organisations will remain banned on polling and counting days.
