24.5 lakh farmers get second installment of MMKAY

Thursday, 24 October 2019 | PNS | Ranchi

Chief Minister Raghubar Das initiated process for transfer of Rs 400 crore among more than 24.53 lakh farmers of the State as the second instalment of Mukhya Mantri Krishi Ashirwad Yojna (MMKAY) at Giridih on Wednesday. The money will be credited in the accounts of all the farmers within 24 hours. The CM also inaugurated and laid foundation of schemes for Giridih district worth Rs 300.99 core on the occasion and distributed assets among the needy persons.

Addressing a huge gathering on the occasion the CM said that just after independence of the nation, where more than 70 per cent of population resides in villages, western industrialisation was imposed.

“No one cared about the farmers and they were forced to commit suicide. After 2014 the Central government started PMKSN scheme to double the income of farmers. Under the scheme farmers across the nation will get Rs 6,000 every year for next 10 years to do agricultural work. The State Government also launched MMKAY and today you are being given 25 per cent of the amount as second instalment. The third instalment will also be given to the farmers of State soon. The Government has aimed to transfer Rs 3,000 crore in the accounts of farmers,” he said.

The CM said that with the amount the farmers will be able to raise agricultural resources. “Farmers should not spread their hands for money to anyone. Do agricultural work with your own funds.

The Government has twice sent farmers to Israel to make them aware of advanced agricultural technology.

Farmers returning from Israel after training are now making fellow farmers aware of the specifics of farming so that farmers can produce more and pave the way to their economic prosperity,” he said.

Das said that the farmers that farmers cannot double their income only on the strength of agriculture. “Animal husbandry can also be helpful for this. This is the reason why cows are being given to poor sisters of the State at 90 per cent grant. Youths should also start dairy farms by creating youth boards. The government will give them 50 per cent grant. If this happens, then we can start a white revolution in Jharkhand. It is necessary to have irrigation sources for farming. Large dams were built in the past, but farmers did not get the benefit. The present government plans to build small dams in rivers and stop rainwater. So that farmers can get water for irrigation. Separate feeders are being constructed for farmers from where uninterrupted power will be supplied for 6 hours of irrigation,” he said.

Koderma MP Annapurna Devi, MLA Nirbhay Shahbadi, Mayor of Giridih, Director Agriculture Chhavi Ranjan, DC Rahul Kumar Sinha alongwith thousands of farmers were present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, holding a public meeting during his Johar Jan Ashirwad Yatra in Giridih, the CM said, “We have tried to develop the State according to the expectations of the people. There have been many attempts to get the basic facility available to you. In 3 years, we supplied electricity to 3 million homes. This work could not be done in 67 years. For the prosperity of the farmers, they are being given the benefit of PMKSN and MMKAY schems. Today, more than 24 lakh farmers of the State got the benefit of MMKAY. Tomorrow in Chatra, 13.4 lakh farmers will get the second installment amount under the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana before Diwali,” he said.
