3,000 security personnel on toes for polling in Bermo, Gomia

In all, 697 polling stations have been set up to conduct smooth polling in Bermo and Gomia, district election officer-cum-Bokaro DC, Mukesh Kumar said on Wednesday. Campaigning in two Assembly constituencies Bermo and Gomia ended on Tuesday as the third of the five-phase polling in the seats will be held on Thursday.

About 5.86 lakh electorates, including female and third gender voters, will decide the fate of 35 candidates, including 20 in Bermo and 15 in Gomia.

According to Kumar, voting will commence at 7 am and will end at 3 pm at Gomia and Bermo constituencies.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi campaigned in favour of BJP candidate earlier. Besides him, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP Executive president JP Nadda and Union Minister Smriti Irani sought vote for nominees of the saffron party at different places, including Bokaro, Makoli, Kargali and Peterwar.

According to police, around 3,000 security personnel, including CRPF, CISF, RPSF, and State police

forces have been deployed for a smooth and peaceful

voting in the two Assembly constituencies.

Former Minister and Congress candidate Rajendra Prasad Singh is taking on sitting BJP MLA Yogeshwar Mahato from Bermo, while sitting MLA Babita Devi of JMM, Lambodar Mahto of AJSU, Laxman Nayak of BJP and former Minister Madhav Lal Singh of Independence are contesting from Gomia seat.

Bokaro consists of four constituencies, including Bermo and Gomia and Bokaro and Chandankiyari, Assembly constituencies. Bermo and Gomia will go to polls on December 12 while Bokaro and Chandankiyari on December 16.

Bokaro, SP, P Murugun urged voters, “No need to fear. We are ready to tackle any untoward incidents during polls. Sufficient numbers of security personnel along with magistrates were deployed to conduct peace and fair poll.”

Besides webcasting, videography and still photography two choppers will keep a close watch on free and fair poll even in the difficult terrain of the constituency.

Meanwhile, vehicle check-up has been intensified to prevent the transportation of cash and materials in order to conduct the upcoming assembly elections in a peaceful and clean environment across the Bokaro district.

Many Flying Squad Teams (FST) and Static Surveillance Teams (SST) along with district administrative officials were engaged in monitoring and investigation round the clock to conduct a corruption-free poll.
