40th Junior National Archery Contest held

Under the 40th Junior National ArcheryChampionship was organised in the City State Sports Complex, here on Wednesday. The recurve event was played in the boys and girls categories.

In the match played on Wednesday, under girls category, Jharkhand's Komalika Bari was in the first position with 650 points, Sahidrajit Kaur of Punjab with 644 points remained at second position, and Ankita Bhagat of Jharkhand stood at third position with 641 points. Similarly, in the boys category, Maharashtra's Mayuri was at the first place with 668 points, Paras Hooda was at second position with 667 points and Haryana’s player Jagdish Chaudhary stood third with 661 points.

In the Recurve Child class team event, Maharashtra was first, Assam second and Haryana remained third in the competition. In Haryana, first in Jharkhand, Jharkhand got second place and Punjab got third position. The players who won the first, second and third position were felicitated with the gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Women's Hockey Academy defeated Chhattisgarh Hockey by 9-1 points displaying a wondrous performance at 9th Hockey India Senior Women National Hockey Tournament. The tournament is being played in Haryana.

In the interesting match played on Wednesday, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy's player Rakhi Prajapati made the team victorious in the fifth minute by scoring the first penalty corner goal. In the 8th minute of the match, Savita of the Academy and Sadhana Sanger in the 12th  minute scored 1-1 field goal and forwarded the team 3-0. In the 22nd  minute of the match, Chhattisgarh hockey team player Laxmi Chandel scored the first and only goal and scored the score 3-1 but till the end of the match no player was able to score from the Chhattisgarh hockey team.

While the player of the Academy, Navdeep Kaur scored 39th and Savita scored 1-1 in the 44th  minute and Pranshu Parihar in the 52nd  minute and Rakhi Prajapati in the 58th  minute made the team won by 9-1 points bagging gold medal.
