BAU to host youth festival

An Inter University Youth Festival will be organized by Birsa Agricultural University (BAU) from May 25 to May 28. Over 300 students will participate in the Festival from eight universities of the State.

As many as 40 students each from Ranchi University, Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag, Binod Bihari Mahto Koyalanchal University, Dhanbad, Kolhan University, Chaibasa, Sido Kanhu Murmu University, Dumka, Nilamber-Pitamber University, Medininagar, BAU and National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi will show their creative talent in 19 events of music, dance, literary, theatre and fine arts groups at the four-day event. Most of the teams along with their team managers will reach the Kanke venue of the youth fest on May 24.

BAU, Vice Chancellor (VC) Parvinder Kaushal said the festival will not be just an assemblage of students from different universities of the State who will compete under one roof but also a platform for sharing ideas and thoughts, promoting national integration and communal harmony, while manifesting a zest of friendliness. This will be a unique forum for youths for expressing their creativity, knowledge and talent where State’s cultural heritage will came alive in colourful vivacity.

The event will be formally inaugurated by Governor Droupadi Murmu on May 25.  The inaugural function and valedictory function will be held in Ranchi Agricultural College Auditorium while 19 events will take place at 7 venues on the campus just as Ranchi Veterinary College Auditorium, Agricultural Engineering Department, Lecture Hall, RAC Examination Hall, Model Class Room, RAC Botany Dept, lawn of Damodar International Guest House and RAC Auditorium. The events include light vocal (solo), quiz, skit, on the spot painting, western vocal, elocution, mime, collage making, group song (patriotic and regional), debate, mimicry, poster making, rangoli, classical dance (solo), extempore, one act play, clay modeling, cartooning and folk dance

Director Students’ Welfare of BAU, MS Yadava informed that accommodation of boys has been arranged at new building of Agricultural Engineering College (AEC) while girls will stay at Krishak Bhawan. Team managers will stay at International family Hostel.  Food for all participants will be at AEC. All teams have been asked to arrive at the Kanke venue of the youth fest by the afternoon of May 24.
