Boy dies as mobile explodes while charging

A 17-year-old boy died when his mobile phone exploded while he was charging it at Cherachetiaguda village under the Dabugaon police limits in Nabarangpur district on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Sanadhar, son of Jayaram Bhatara of Pujariguda village in the district. Sanadhar had been staying at her sister’s house at Cherachetiaguda.

At around 7.30 am, when he was charging the battery of his mobile phone with an electric wire after removing it from the phone, the battery exploded all of a sudden. He suffered serious injuries in his left hand palm. Soon later, he again came in contact with a live electric wire, following which he died on the spot.

Sanadhar’s family members learnt about his death about half an hour after the mishap. Acting on a complaint, the Dabugaon police reached the spot, sent the body for postmortem, registereda case and began an investigation into the incident.
