CS asks officials to achieve tree plantation target

Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Anup Chandra Pandey has asked officials to formulate micro plan at village level to achieve the target of planting 22 crore trees in one day across the state and also issue annual income certificates to upper caste poor so that they could derive the benefit of reservation.

While reviewing the progress of implementation of government schemes here on Thursday, the Chief Secretary said that all departments should prepare micro plans up to village level to achieve the target of planting 22 crore saplings in one day.

“Meetings of tree plantation committees should be held on a regular basis. The village level officials should ensure that pits are dug up by June 15 for planting saplings and the report should be sent to the government,” Pandey said.

He also asked the officials to provide income certificates to the poor among the upper caste so that they could avail of the reservation given to them.

“The government is getting reports about delays in issuing reservation certificates to the poor among the upper caste. The process should be expedited and if need be special camps should be held,” the Chief Secretary said.

Reviewing the functioning of wheat purchase centres, Pandey asked the Agriculture department to meet the target of purchasing 55 lakh metric tons of wheat by June 15.

“Officials should ensure that farmers get a suitable price when they come at the centres to sell their wheat .The nodal agency should also ensure that farmers get the price for their produce within the stipulated time without the intervention of middlemen, the Chief Secretary said.

Pandey asked the District Magistrate of Shrawasti to carry out a probe into the low purchase of wheat in the district and if required take action against PCF officers.

In view of the increase in demand of electricity, The Chief Secretary asked the district magistrates of Prayagraj, Kanpur, Etah, Kasganj, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Meerut, Bhadohi, Ghaziabad, Ambedkar Nagar and Basti to provide land for setting up of power station.
