A dance drama Swarnmarg was staged at Madhya Pradesh State Tribal Museum here on Saturday. The play was performed on the first day of Poornima event.

The dance drama was based on Jatak Katha of Gautam Buddha. It was directed and choreographed by Chandra Madhav Barik.

The story is picked from Jataka stories.  At the time of the kingdom of Bramdutt in Varanasi, a set of 'Aarti Karadi' died without teaching anything to his beloved son Mahandik. His son only knew singing, dancing and drinking. The result was that he became arrogant.

When he could not repay the debt, he asked his moneylenders that his ancestral treasure in hidsen in the ocean. All of them went to take all the money on the banks of the Ganga along with the loan papers. Everyone went there, andhe jumped in the Ganga . When he started drowning, he screamed out of fear.

On the other hand, the Bodhisattva was eating the grass in the form of Swarnmarg. Upon hearing his screaming voice, he jumped into the Ganges and brought it to his side on athe bank. From the general, he made a promise that he would not tell anyone about it.

Here a patron of Khemma named King Brahmadatta suddenly said that he saw a beautiful Swarnmarg in the dream, the king should bring it to him.

The king made a proclamation that whatever the deity's address will tell, it will be sourced from gold and women will be given as well. When Mahandik Seth heard the procession, he fell into greed and told the deity's address. The king searched for him for several days in the forest but he could not find The king closed all the deer in an enclosure.

Every day, one-two deers are killed and taken away. Many deers were injured in Bhagpadra and died. Then the Swarnmarg arranged for the king to get the ban of deer. One day a turn of a pregnant deer came and he said that she will not die. Then the Swarnmarg presented himself to die in his place. Seeing this, the king was very impressed.
