Failed attempt to break an ATM of SBI ATM was reported in Bairagarh Chichli under Kolar police station area in the wee hours on Friday; miscreants escaped with UPS inside the ATM.
Police said that an ATM was targeted by miscreants who targeted the ATM but failed to reach cash tray and escaped the ATM.
Police were informed after broken ATM was spotted by locals in the morning on Friday. Bank officials and police reached the spot to take stock of the situation and found that UPS was stolen and ATM was damaged badly but cash remained safe inside the cash tray.
The ATM was not deployed with security guard which provided easy entry and escape for the miscreants. The miscreants managed to remove the upper part but failed to make in the lower part having cash.
During the investigation footages of CCTV cameras installed in the nearby areas would be obtained to establish the identity of the miscreants.
At the time of the incident hearing the noise of breaking ATM house owner woke up and when he rushed to the ATM miscreants escaped leaving the ATM. The ATM is situated near road but it is secluded and deserted during nights which provide easy target.
Recently senior officials have conducted meeting with high rung officials of bank and recommended to deploy security guard at ATM but still banks are not willing to comply and due to which after this incident police are going to write to the bank in this regard.
