Wednesday, 23 October 2019 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

nAmbassador of Germany to India, Walter J Lindner met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at the Delhi Secretariat on Tuesday.  Showing interest in various public welfare initiatives of the Delhi Government and the administrative structure of Delhi, Ambassador Linder discussed various schemes on education and health.

Kejriwal informed Ambassador Lindner how the the Delhi Government brought about the transformation in the education and health sectors, and provided relief to the residents in electricity and water sectors. Citing stubble burning incidents causing pollution in Delhi, Kejriwal said Delhi has been able to reduce the levels of air pollution by 25 per cent during last five years, but crop residue burning (stubble burning) during the months of October-November from the neighbouring States adversely impacts the air quality.

Kejriwal said though efforts are being made but crop residue burning remains a cause of concern and the Delhi Government is making all possible efforts to reduce the impact of crop residue burning.

He also informed the Ambassador about the upcoming initiatives of the Delhi government, including community Diwali celebrations during the weekend to create awareness against burning of fire crackers during Diwali and the Odd-Even traffic restriction scheme from 4th-15th November.
