Govt holds global summit to woo investors

In a bid to woo investors for the Smart City Project and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) Urban and Housing Development Department of Jharkhand organised International Urban Development Summit here on Friday in which representatives of many top banks participated.

Addressing the summit as Chief Guest Governor, Draupadi Murmu, said that development is a continuous process, in the development of township; Jharkhand is progressing on the path of progress. It is heartening to note that in the urbanisation of the State, environmental protection is also being taken into consideration, she added.

“Housing scheme for everyone is underway in the State. The work of PMAY is going on in the urban areas. Various projects for providing basic facilities to the common man are being completed,” said Murmu.

While appreciating the various works being undertaken under the Smart City project in Ranchi, the Governor appealed investors to invest in the project. “The area development work is going on at HEC area in 656.3 acres of land for the construction of smart city,” she added.

She also discussed the construction of the Urban Planning Management Institute, Convention Center, Urban Civic Tower and Residential Buildings, will be constructed in the smart city campus and said that the construction of new city will be available with state-of-the-art facilities. She also said that Ranchi Smart City will be developed as a Knowledge Hub in the coming time. The Governor said that the Summit will prove to be beneficial in the urban development of Jharkhand.

Minister of Urban Development and Housing, Jharkhand, CP Singh said that people are constantly migrating to cities in the State due to changes in their living standards. “This is one of the major reasons that we need to build housing for a large number of people. In this direction, work is going on for providing people accommodation under the PMAY,” he added.

He emphasised that the government has made a policy to work out the houses in the planned colonies before removing the poor.

Singh claimed that the construction of the houses under the PMAY to be prepared as soon as possible. “Interstate Bus Terminal and Transport City will be constructed under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode and there is hope that the investors will show their interest,” said Singh.

Speaking on the occasion Telangana Special Secretary Ajay Mishra said that for energy requirements there is need to work on renewable energy sources apart from traditional sources of energy.

Argentina Ambassador in India, Daniel Chucharu, Thailand High Commissioner, Sevia Santipitkas and their Korean counterpart Sheen Bonkgil were present including Urban and Housing development Secretary, Ajay Kumar Singh, Industry Secretary, K Ravi Kumar and Municipal Commissioners from various cities like Jalandhar, Raipur and others were present.
