Police on Sunday claimed to have cracked the model Anchal Yadav’s    murder case by arresting her brother and mother.

The 30-year-old Yadav’s body was found floating in the canal under Guru police station limits on March 26 and police were facing criticism to unravel the murder mystery at the earliest.

According to police, Anchal’s brother was fed up with the kind of lifestyle and friend circle she had developed over the recent years. The murder accused has been identified as Siddhartha Yadav who killed his sister at ancestral home at Dhamtari on March 25.

“The estranged siblings on March 25 around 9:30 pm had heated argument and then Anchal reportedly tried to attack Siddhartha with a knife and injured him. Angered by the attack, Siddhartha killed her,” Inspector General (IGP) Durg Himanshu Gupta told reporters.

Anchal’s mother Mamta Yadav then reportedly helped Siddhartha to dispose of her body in the nearby canal and also in destroying evidences such as cleaning blood stains, police said on the basis of the preliminary investigation.

After the body was recovered, police launched a probe into the murder based on some leads and arrested Siddhartha. During interrogation Siddhartha has confessed of murder. He has been booked under Section 302 (murder), 201 (Causing disappearance of evidence of offence) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of Indian Penal Code (IPC). Notably, Anchal Yadav was arrested in 2014 for reportedly blackmailing a forest department official.
