Police seize 200 tonnes of illegal mined coal

Police team led by SDM and SDPO Bermo Prem Ranjan and R Ram Kumar respectively on Tuesday night conducted massive raids at Rahawan, a naxal infested area, near Jhumra region of Dumari-Bihar police station, about 35 km from the Bokaro and seized 200 tonnes of illegal mined coal, which was kept inside the buses, said SP Bokaro P. Murugan over telephone on Wednesday.

It has been one of the biggest ever seizures of illegal coal made by the Bermo police recently. The illegal coal dump was functioning following the dumping of illegally mined coal and was being run by local coal smugglers.

Police have registered a case of illegal mining against unknown accused. SDPO R. Ram Kumar said it was suspected that coal smugglers had already got the wind of the of the Tuesday night raid as the Rahawan to Maoists infested block of Gomia was strewn.
