Preventing crime is more important: DGP Awasthi

To nab criminals is definitely an achievement for the law enforcers, but preventing crime is far more important,  opined Chhattisgarh Director General of Police (DGP) DM Awasthi on Monday.

 He was addressing a special felicitation ceremony organised under the ‘Indradhanush Scheme’ at Atal Nagar (Naya Raipur).

In all 37 police personnel, including officers, were honoured as part of the ‘Indradhanush Scheme,’ a brainchild of the DGP.

 Under this scheme, best performing police personnel are felicitated. On Monday 37 police personnel were honoured for their various performances such as security arrangements made during the Prime Minister’s Chhattisgarh visit, peaceful conduct of elections and tackling Naxal threat .

“During VIP visits, to hold peaceful elections across the state, including Naxal-affected regions, to prevent crime, to nab criminals the cops have worked with a team spirit,” the DGP said, adding “as a head of police department every police personnel is important for me.”

Special Director General RK Vij addressing the policemen said Chhattisgarh police has successfully curbed criminal incidents like theft, murder, loot and others.

After honouring the police officials, the DGP hoped that other police personnel working in the state too would be encouraged to perform better.
