Thursday, 12 December 2019 | PNS | Puri

After the Mangu Mutt, the district administration began demolition of the Sana Chhata Mutt near the Jagannath temple on Wednesday. Five heavy duty excavators and other machines were engaged for the demolition. The eviction drive was supervised by the Puri ADM. Four platoons of police were deployed. There were no reports of any untoward incident.

Officials said all structures including private properties, shoe stands, Government installations like power supply building, temple information centre and a police outpost located within 75 metre of the Jagannath Temple would be demolished for security reasons. In another development, the drive to evict unauthorised structures from the Swargadwar, which was started on Tuesday, continued on Wednesday and many illegal structures were razed.
