Senior advocate Sambhu Prasad Agarwal once again became the president of Ranchi District Bar Association (RDBA), the result for which was declared on Sunday. This is for the seventh consecutive time that Agarwal became the president of RDBA.
The voting for the RDBA election was held on April 10 and the counting of votes started on April 11. A total of 1960 members are registered at RDBA of which 1630 voted in the election.
The 64-year advocate, practicing in the lower court for more than 40 years, received 955 out of total 1630 votes. There were a total of four candidates trying their luck for the post but ultimately veteran Sambhu emerged victorious.
BK Rai was elected as the vice-president of RDBA. He received a total of 463 votes. There were seven candidates in the fray for the post.
Another stalwart of the RDBA, Kundan Prakashan, was elected General Secretary for the fourth time. He got a total of 706 out of 1630 votes. He defeated Sanjay Vidrohi, the incumbent General Secretary of RDBA. There were seven contestants trying their fate for the post.
Amar Kumar was elected for the post of treasurer with 638 votes. Pradip Sarkar was elected for the post of Joint Secretary (library) with 461 votes defeating five other candidates.
For the post of Joint Secretary (Administration), Pawan Raj Khatri, was declared the winner. He got a total of 523 votes.
Among the other office-bearers who were elected was Abhisek Kumar Bharti for the post of Assistant Treasurer.
