SDMC extends amnesty scheme on property tax to unauthorised colonies

Providing substantial relief to the property tax assesses, South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC)has extended the benefit of 100 per cent waiver of interest and 100 per cent penalty under amnesty scheme to all type of properties in all type of colonies, including unauthorised, by paying their outstanding by March 31.

A resolution in this regard was moved by Standing Committee Chairperson Shikha Rai on Tuesday.

The decision will benefit people who have not deposited tax return from 1st April 2004 or not submitted return on regular basis or the owners whose property assessment has not been done from 2004.

Explaining the benefits of the move, Rai said that under this scheme all property holders will become entitled for 100 per cent waiver of the amount relating to interest, penalty and other charges on making up-to-date payment of outstanding dues by 31st March, 2019.

The chairman said that assesses will be benefited with waiver of interest, penalty and other charges amount on payment of their due amount of property tax by 31st March 2019.

“This scheme will also be applicable to the property tax assesses in villages and unauthorised colonies,” she said.

Elaborating it further, Leader of House in SDMC Kamaljeet Sehrawat said that under this scheme those assesses will get relief who have not been able to make payment of their property tax in time due to their financial difficulties.

“This scheme is applicable to all those who have been avoiding payment of property tax because of hefty amount of interest and penalty, hence they will also be benefitted with scheme,” she said.
