At least three persons died and six others sustained injuries after a speeding truck collided with an SUV on Saturday on Ring Road near Salbal village under Namkum police station in Ranchi.
Ranchi Rural Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar said that the mishap happened in the afternoon between two o’clock to three o’clock. A Bolero carrying nine passengers was on its way to Bundu from Bijupara for a wedding ceremony when it rammed into a speeding truck. The deceased and the survivors are all residents of Bijjupara in Ranchi district, he added.
Shekhar said that among the six injured, two persons are battling for life. The police team including local people reached the spot immediately after the accident and started rescue work, he added.
“Two persons died on the spot and one died on the way to hospital. All the bodies were sent for postmortem.
The truck driver fled soon after the incident. The injured were admitted to Rajendra Institute of Medical Science,” said Shekhar.
Eyewitnesses said that there was hardly anything left in the front half of the SUV after the high momentum collision.
