As many as 21,549 street vendors have been registered so far on the Mukhya Mantri Shahri Asangathit Kamgar Ekikrat Portal. The registration campaign started on June 8 will continue till June 25.
It may be mentioned that announcement has been made for Pradhan Mantri Street Vendors Atma-Nirbhar Nidhi Yojana under the ‘Atma-Nirbhar-2’ to reduce the effects of Covid-19 pandemic, which impacted the livelihood of street vendors of urban areas. In this series, the Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan had launched ‘Mukhya Mantri Shahri Asangathit Kamgar Ekikrat Portal on June 6.
Under the scheme, street vendors of above 18 years of age will be entitled. It is mandatory for the street vendors to have Aadhar number, Samagra ID and Bank accounts. In case of non-possession of these documents, they are guided and helped by the officers of the urban bodies to get the documents prepared. After the registration, identity cards and certificates will be given to the street vendors and working capital loan of Rs 10,000 will be given through banks. Interest subsidy of 7 percent will be given by the Government of India quarterly on depositing regular monthly installments.
Besides, it has been decided separately by the state government to provide benefit of interest subsidy of 5 percent to each beneficiary under the scheme. This subsidy will be given to beneficiaries at the beginning of each quarter itself. In this way, beneficiaries will be able to avail interest free loan upto Rs 10,000 for self-employment. A target has been set to link about 3 lakh street vendors to Mukhya Mantri Asangathit Kamgar Ekikrat Portal.
