Monday, 20 April 2020 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

With the change in State Government, Vice Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Mass Communication (MCU) Deepak Tiwari resigned from the post on Saturday.

Official sources said that Tiwari was asked to quit. Sources claimed that this development was expected soon after the BJP came to power in the State, as Deepak Tiwari was appointed VC by Kamal Nath led Congress government in February 2019 for a tenure of four years.Chief Minister is head of the general council of Makhanlal University. Sources said that VC Tiwari was conveyed a message from the chief minister’s office and was told to resign.

Though VC is a constitutional post and Deepak Tiwari could have continued for the remaining term but sensing the situation that days ahead would be more difficult, he tendered his resignation.

On Sunday, the State Government issued orders for appointing P Narhari, Commissioner Public Relations, as acting VC of the University.  Meanwhile, Sanjay Dwivedi, who earlier worked as Registrar in the University, has again been posted on the same post.
