Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM) Vice-Chancellor Supriya Pattanayak has opined that educators in colleges and universities should also undergo training on teaching methods like schoolteachers.
She stated this after inaugurating a two-day faculty development programme (FDP) on the topic “Enhancing Teaching Skills Using Micro Teaching Method†held at the CUTM Bhubaneswar campus recently.
The FDP, which had been designed keeping in mind the relevant guidelines of University Grants Commission, had discussion and experience sharing sessions on the challenges being faced by present day educators and learners, skills required to face these challenges and use of technology in the teaching-learning process.
During the programme, the educators had hands-on practice of modern teaching skills in small sessions, called Micro Teaching sessions. The educators also learnt how to develop and use simulations and other modern pedagogy tools to make the learning experience for the students more engaging and effective.
At total of 73 educators from 25 educational institutions of Odisha, West Bengal and Jharkhand participated. Mani resource person Bijay Bhujabal spoke on CUTM innovations in teaching and learning processes.
