Sunday, 10 May 2020 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

The Navnirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) on Saturday demanded lifting of the lockdown soonest and payment of a monthly assistance of Rs 5,000 to each farmer and worker affected by lockdown.

“Beheading isn’t at all a solution to headache. In our country, crores of people are working at places thousands km from their native places. Lockdown was declared without thinking about them. They have lost their livelihood sources now leading very miserable life,” said NKS national convenor Akshay Kumar and State convenor Sheshadeb Nanda at a Press conference here.

They said the sectors like agriculture, industry, transport and tourism are badly affected and people earning their living from these sources are unable to meet their basic needs.

“It is very disappointing that the Union Government has been enhancing lockdown from time to time,” they said.

They too demanded that KALIA and Prime Minister Pension assistances be given to beneficiaries soon.
