Recovery rate improves to 78.2%

Sunday, 06 September 2020 | PNS | Jamshedpur

The recovery of Covid-19 patients at one of the largest hospitals in Jharkhand, Tata Main Hospital ( TMH) has improved from 76 per cent to 78.2 per cent. So far 2518 patients have been treated at the hospital.

During a telephonic media interaction, Dr Rajan Choudhry, general manager, medical services, Tata Steel said that the hospital is providing the best services to the people of Jharkhand. The hospital is making every effort to detect patients at an early stage so that they can be cured. Moreover, there are several patients from 80 to 90 years of age who have been treated with corona.

Answering queries of media persons, Dr Choudhry said that they are providing the best treatment available in the entire country. No fund has been provided by any of the Governments or institutions. The entire initiative has been taken by Tata Steel alone. Moreover, during the course of treatment, TMH’s own 300 worriers have fallen victim to corona virus and they have been quarantined.

The general manager has also appealed for plasma donation from those patients who have recovered. The hospital so far has received 12 plasma donations. As of now no medicine has been evolved for an effective treatment of Covid, but people who have recovered from Covid have antibodies -- proteins the body uses to fight off infections -- to the disease in their blood.  The blood from people who have recovered is called convalescent plasma which is the liquid portion of the blood.
